NaNo news 11/23/2010
 
Let's see...remember the air card that was supposed to give me broadband access?  It won't work. I spent ALL DAY Saturday at Best Buy.  The Geeks did everything known to mankind (Geekkind?) to get it to work and , NO JOY!  So not only am I still stuck on the dark side of the moon,  I lost a day and a half writing time. GRRRRRRRRRRR!

But, I will prevail.  I am at 43K, I should hit 44 tomorrow and 45 at least on Turkey Day.  It will be PB&J Day for yours truly.   I can't afford the turkey coma.  But my 50k will be finished by Sunday evening at the latest.  Thank you, thank you!  My story will not be finished But I will be better than half way through my first draft so "Yea Me!!"

Thank God!  I expected to hit 40K or better this weekend, unfortunately I have to take the PC in for some service tomorrow.  Hopefully that won't slow me down much.

As most of you know I am stuck with dial-up here on the dark side of the moon.  No one seems to care about us rural folks.  Sure you can get broadband via satellite, but who has that kind of dough?  Not me.  To that end I got an "air card"  unfortunately (again) I need new drivers installed in my PC to accommodate it.

I wasted 3 hours today when I should have been writing trying to get the d@#$ thing to install.  Everyone said it would be SOOOOOOO easy.  Not on the dark side of the moon.

Sorry to everyone who checked this morning for a new chapter of Tom's Story.  I did write it...in my sleep...between work and NaNo, I just forgot to post it.  Thanks for the reminders!  Chapter 11 is up now on my Blogger site.  You know the drill-- Home page--Free Reads--Click!

That's the title to the story I am working on for National Novel Writing Month, aka NaNoWriMo.  You'll notice the new banner below the naked guy.  Stop looking at the naked guy!  Geeze!

This story it a little different than my norm, meaning there are NO vampires in this novel.  Instead, we have time travel.  To know the rest, you have to read the book.  To read the book, I must sell the book.  And, before all that can happen, I must write the book.  To that end I am pounding away at the keyboard.  Eight Days in 21,502 words.

Channel energy this way my friends, I need it!

What time?  Tom time!  I added another chapter to Tom's Story last night.  So Take a break from NaNo and go read chapter 9.  Heh, if I had time to write it, you have time to read it.  Consider it a gift for all the hard work you have put in this week.  Click the Get Bit by My Free Reads link on my homepage to get redirected to my secure site.

I've been a busy little bee and have written 9505 words as of last night and expect to hit 11,200 before bedtime.  (If I get out of this blog and get to writing!)

Yet.  I try to be a good little blogger and keep my website nice and tidy but that may be asking too much for the next month at least.  Why?
I start a new job tomorrow.  Not a writing job, although it is sort of related.  I am going to work for our local public library.  Yep!

And because the fates like to do funny things with a poor mortals, next Monday starts the National Novel Writing Month, NaNoWriMo, to those in the know.  I signed up.

This is a challenge to write 50,000 words in the space of a month, 30 days (29 if you plan to take off for Thanksgiving).  The idea is to be so focused on word count that you don't stop to edit your work, just write, write, write!  Believe it our not, most writers are their own worst critique and can't seem to finish a piece because the are continually editing what they just wrote.

Unfortunately the creative side of our brains and the analytical side do not play well together.  Trust me, I found this out the hard way!

So, having to crank out 1666.66 words (about a chapter for most of us) per day, every day for a month leaves no time for the critical side of our minds to get in our way.

I am a glutton for punishment it seems.  New job and a chapter a day on a brand new novel.  By December 1st, I should have the makings of at least the major part of my time travel fantasy, Dare to Dream and be settled into my new job...or dead.  In the meantime, bear with me. 

There is only so much time in 24 hours ...like 24 hours ... and it takes me at least 6 uninterrupted to write 1666.66 words, (I have to think of the words, put them in some sort of order that makes sense and type them out okay?) then the job, and the dogs and well... something has to give way.  So do not panic, I'm probably still alive.
