One of my favorite bloggers, a published writer and former agent, commented the other day how self promotion really sucks.  I can't argue his logic.  It takes away from the precious little time most of us have to do what we truly want to be doing...writing.

But for better or worse it is a tightrope we must all walk in order to get our books to sell well...hopefully...maybe.

Don't get me wrong I love to schmooze with my readers!  The highlight of any writer's day is to get fan mail or be asked a question about a character.  That shows the reader is connecting.  Be still my heart.

It's fun  to blog, plan contests and join  internet communities, but at the end of the day, it's also distracting.  The promotion takes us away from the very thing our readers want...more books.

We writers try hard to find a happy medium, between work and home, promo and writing.  Some days our balance isn't as good as others, but we try, really.  Be patient with us.
