As followers of this blog, know, I recently contracted my urban fantasy, Midnight Sun, Inc. to Crimson Romance
Midnight Sun is the first book in a series I began years ago. Currently it is a trilogy, but I started book number four...two years ago. Why is it not finished? Because on the well meaning advice of my peers, I was told to put it to rest and concentrate on single titles as there was no point in pursuing a series where I had yet to sell book one.
Now, on the surface, that sounds like good advice. The idea is to SELL books. But for me, this ended what had been the easiest outpouring of material I had ever experienced, as well as setting aside a storyline that meant everything to me.
I mention this why?
As writers we must all make difficult decision in our careers and there are times we should turn a deaf ear to those seeking to help us and decide for ourselves what matters most. This was such a time for me. I have always believed in this series, it was merely a matter of finding a publisher who shared my vision.
I now find myself with the daunting task of searching out my muse, Raf, who left in a snit when I put him on hold, so that we can pick up where we left off two years ago. He had something very important to tell me...
