We all get rejections. Every one of us. They are hard to receive and often harder to understand. After all we have poured our life's blood into those pages, how can they not feel the love? Because dear friends, the market and the rules of writing are constantly changing. It is no longer enough to write a good story. You must be editor, publicist, web site designer, critic, mental health professional and the list goes on and on. Even if you succeed in being the best you can be, writing the best story you can, you will still meet with those who hate it. They don't get it.
Have you ever told a hilarious joke to a friend or colleague, one that has you rolling on the floor, tears streaming from your eyes as you hold your gut, only to have them say dead-pan, "I don't get it." So it is with writing. Not everyone will love or even like your splendid tale. But ah, those who do, make all the hurt worth while.
Hugs my friends. You can't be everything to everyone, but you can be everything to someone.
